The official trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious project – Padmavati – starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh has garnered over 50 million views since it was unveiled on October 9. <br /> <br />The makers took to Twitter via @FilmPadmavati to thank fans and moviegoers for viewing the trailer and helping it cross an impressive milestone. <br />The trailer was released on YouTube and Facebook and the combined viewership has crossed the 50 million mark. <br />Most of Bhansali’s films have made headlines both for pleasant and unpleasant reasons. Padmavati is no different. The film inspired by Rani Padmini’s valour faced opposition from a few Rajput groups that felt the filmmaker would distort history and misrepresent facts in the garb of creative liberty. A group even vandalised the sets of the film on a couple of occasions and the filmmaker was physically assaulted by its members.
